The center of Den Helder is easily accessible by public transport.

All city busses are stationed for the trainstation itself, which can take you to the desired locations. The trainstation is centrally located and after leaving the trainstation you are directly in the shopping center. You cross over and walk straight into the Beatrixstraat. The main shopping street. If you come to Den Helder by car, you follow the N9 from Alkmaar. Follow this road all the way to Den Helder and via a connecting bridge you will reach the Binnenhaven. Follow this road and it takes you directly to the boat in the direction of Texel or the Den Helder city centre.

Parking in the Sluisdijkstraat or above the ‘Kroonpassage’

In order to park your car properly we advise you to enter the parking deck Sluisdijkstraat in your navigation. This parking deck consists of two layers and has plenty of parking space. After getting out, it is a one minute walk to the Beatrixstraat. You may not park in the Beatrixstraat itself. Parking is free for the first three hours, then € 1 per hour. If the parking deck is full, you can also park on the parking deck of the Kroonpassage. The Kroonpassage is an indoor shopping center and has 20 stores under one roof with exits to the Keizerstraat with its many shops or take another exit to the Beatrixstraat. Enter Kroonpassage in your navigation if you want to park your car there. If you come over from your stay on Texel, you can best choose to park your car at the Bernhardplein. If that is full then the parking deck on the Kroonpassage around the corner.

In Den Helder you can park for free for five hours if you put a blue parking card in your car. This is strictly supervised. The blue parking card is also available at various stores.

Alternatively, you can park your car at Willemsoord. There are no shops in this area, but there are catering establishments. Walking from Willemsoord to the city center is about five minutes. Do you use the designated parking spaces there. There are no busses to and from Willemsoord. For disabled visitors it is advisable to book a taxi if necessary.
